“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the
government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” – Isaiah 9:6 NIV
God, our Creator and our heavenly Father (see
1 Corinthians 8:6) sent His Son, Jesus as an image of Himself (Colossians
1:15) into the world to crucify Himself on the cross as an atonement of our
sins due to His steadfast love, in order to reveal Himself to us, for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans
3:23):
This is how God showed his love
among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live
through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent
his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1
John 4:9-10)
He wants us to know that there is better life ahead of us,
which is an everlasting one, for our citizenship is in the kingdom of Heaven (see
Philippians 3:18-21), where there are no more tears, death, mourning,
crying, and pain (Revelation
21:4):
For God so loved the world [heaven –
the kingdom of God] that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in
him shall NOT perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into
the world to condemn the world, but to save the world [us] through him. Whoever
believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned
already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. (John
3:16-18)
As these verses state, we HAVE to believe in Jesus Christ,
NOT legalistically, but in FULL-DEVOTION in order to have eternal life, which
is our eternal home as well – “For we know that if the earthly tent we live in
is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not
built by human hands.” (2
Corinthians 5:1)
Jesus Christ is the Wonderful Counselor, and Prince of
Peace. These are because of the Holy Spirit, whom God poured His Spirit into us
due to His steadfast love (Romans
5:5), as our guidance/advisor/counselor/friend to help us in the walk with
the Lord:
The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you
of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and
do not be afraid. (John
14:26-27)
And inside of the Holy Spirit, there are different fruits,
which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness,
and self-control. But there are all combined into the one, which is THE FRUIT
OF THE HOLY SPIRIT (Galatians
5:22-23). So if we know that we have the Holy Spirit inside of us, then we
have those qualities as well, which produces character:
Therefore, since we have been
justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through
whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And
we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our
sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance,
character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because
God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has
been given to us. (Romans
5:1-5)
Overall, our heavenly Father is Mighty God, since He is the
Creator as well (see
Genesis 1:1):
Have you never heard? Have you
never understood? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the
earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his
understanding. (Isaiah 40:28 NLT)
This means He created us as well (see
Genesis 1:27), which means that He is controlling us through the Holy
Spirit, if we are willing to let Him to control over lives.
Once we FULLY-SURRENDER to Him, He will never let us go from
the Spirit and His presence!
You have searched me, Lord, and you
know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from
afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my
ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me
in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where
can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I
make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if
I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your
right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and
the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the
night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created
my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because
I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full
well. – Psalm
139:1-14
