“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you
face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith
produces perseverance.” – James 1:2-3 NIV
If we FULLY surrendered and devoted to Jesus, our Lord and
Savior, we HAVE to know that we are going to face many trials, concerning our
faith in Christ Jesus. This is because the prince of the world is Satan, the
enemy of God. This means that He is going to do whatever it takes to make us
turn our faith away from God. However, if we consider ourselves that we are the
children of God, we MUST persevere with pure joyful mind-set, and hold on to
our faith FIRMLY with our living hope in Christ Jesus, for ‘we know that we are
children of God, and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.’
(1
John 5:19) – “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In
his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the
resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can NEVER
perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through
faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is
ready to be revealed in the last time. In all this you greatly rejoice, though
now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials.
These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth
than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise,
glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed. Though you have not seen him,
you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and
are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the
end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.” (1
Peter 1:3-9) – “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you
face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith
produces perseverance.” (James
1:2-3)
Therefore, we also OUGHT to overcome the world. This is
because if we overcome the world, then we can be sure that NOTHING will take
our faith away, and we are winning against Satan, since He is the prince of the
world – “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God,
and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this
we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his
commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And
his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God
overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our
faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that
Jesus is the Son of God?” (1
John 5:1-5) – ‘What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God
is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave
him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all
things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God
who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who
died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is
also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall
trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As
it is written: “For your sake we face death all day
long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.” NO, in all these things we
are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that
neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the
future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord.’ (Romans
8:31-39)
