“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I
am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my
righteous right hand.” – Isaiah 41:10 NIV
We should NOT fear at anything, especially in worldly
sufferings, for the word of God states in Deuteronomy
31:8: “The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never
leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Many
scriptures in the Bible state that the Lord will never forsake or leave us,
such as Deuteronomy
31:6 and Hebrews
13:5. This is mainly because He is our heavenly Father who loves us SO
much, that He came into the world as Jesus Christ (Colossians
1:15) to crucify Himself on the cross as an atonement of our sins: “This is
how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world
that we might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that
he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1
John 4:9-10); to cut every sin in our lives (see
Colossians 2:13-15), so that we could live our lives as new creations in
Christ Jesus (see
2 Corinthians 5:17) by becoming the righteousness of God - “He himself bore
our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and
live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” (1
Peter 2:24)
Second of all, we need to know that God is also there to
strengthen and help us.
But how? He can do these (see
Philippians 4:13) by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured into us as our
guidance/advocate/friend to help us in the walk with the Lord (see
John 14:15-17,26)
“My grace is sufficient for
you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will
boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest
on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in
insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I
am weak, then I am strong. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God,
whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do
to me? (2
Corinthians 12:9-10, Psalm 56:3-4)
Therefore, we should trust the Lord with all of our hearts
rather than our own knowledge and understanding, for “we know that in all
things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose.” (Romans
8:28)
Let not steadfast love and
faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet
of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and
man. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own
understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your
paths. Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord, and turn away from evil. It
will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones. (Proverbs
3:3-8)
