“Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many;
and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to
those who are waiting for him.” – Hebrews 9:28 NIV
Christ Jesus was crucified on the cross as an atonement of
our sins for ‘the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in
Christ Jesus our Lord.’ (Romans
6:23) He did this due to His steadfast love – “This is how God showed his
love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live
through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent
his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1
John 4:9-10), so that we could become the righteousness of God – “God made
Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be
made right with God through Christ.” (2
Corinthians 5:21) - “He himself bore our sins” in his body on the
cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by
his wounds you have been healed.” For he was pierced for our transgressions, he
was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him…..’
(1
Peter 2:24, Isaiah 53:5) This is because He wants us to enter the Kingdom
of heaven, where God, our heavenly Father is and it was set for us as our
ETERNAL HOME (see
Philippians 3:20-21, 2 Corinthians 5:1) – “God SO loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall NOT perish but
have eternal life.” (John
3:16)
However, we OUGHT not to only believe in Jesus, but also we
HAVE to do the will of God until the end of age with FULL-DEVOTION; by obeying
the Holy Spirit, whom God poured His Spirit into us due to His steadfast love (Romans
5:5), as our guidance/advocate/friend to help us in the walk with Him (see
John 14:15-17,26) – “Not everyone
who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the
one who DOES the will of my Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew
7:21)
Therefore, let’s REALLY repent for walking through the wide
gate rather than narrow one (see
Matthew 7:13-14) - “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew
3:2), and let’s REALLY abide in the Holy Spirit to do the will of God!
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of
God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to
God—this is your TRUE and PROPER worship. Do NOT conform to the pattern of this
world, but be TRANSFORMED by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able
to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” – Romans
12:1-2
