“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one
and only Son into the world that we might live through him. This is love: not
that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning
sacrifice for our sins.” – 1 John 4:9-10 NIV
Nobody has greater love than God’s love that is
around us. This is because God hated the world, but loved every single one of
us SO much, that He sent His Son into the world as an image of Himself (Colossians
1:15-17) to crucify Himself on the Cross as an atonement
of our sins; to cut away every sinful nature within us (see
Colossians 2:13-15), so that we could become the righteousness of God. This
is because we are actually the children of God (see
1 John 3:1); but because of the world, we became sinners, “for all have
sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans
3:23):
“He himself bore
our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for
righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were like sheep
going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your
souls. (1
Peter 2:24-25)
This is how we know that we live in him and he in
us: He has given us of his Spirit. (1
John 4:13) God, our heavenly Father and Creator (1
Corinthians 8:6) poured His Spirit into us due to His steadfast love
(Romans
5:5), as our guidance/advocate/friend to help us in the walk with the Lord:
If you love me, keep my commands. And
I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you
and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept
him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he
lives with you and will be in you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the
Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of
everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I
do NOT give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and
do not be afraid. (John
14:15-17,26-27)
So that we could keep doing the will of God until
the end of age, and be holy before Him to enter the kingdom of God (see
1 Peter 1:13-16), for it is our ETERNAL HOME (see
Philippians 3:20-21, 2 Corinthians 5:1):
Not everyone who
says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only
the one who DOES the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on
that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name
drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them
plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew
7:21-23)
Hence, let’s REALLY abide in the Holy Spirit and
live like what Galatians
2:19-20 state: “For through the law I died to the law so that I might
live for God. I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but
Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in
the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me,” in order to do
the will of God, for our eternal home is waiting for us:
Whoever sows to
please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to
please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become
weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not
give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people,
especially to those who belong to the family of believers. (Galatians
6:8-10)
