“We know that in all things God works for the good of those
who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28 NIV
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your
works are wonderful, I know that full well.” – Psalm 139:14 NIV
We should know that everyone is called to God’s purpose,
because “we are fearfully and wonderfully made” in His sight and we are made in
His image (Genesis
1:27); to live how Christ lived among us – “Be imitators of God, as beloved
children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a
fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.” (Ephesians
5:1-2) He works for the good, for we are the children of God and He is THE
Father who has His steadfast love towards us (1
John 3:1) Therefore, “whoever says he [he/she] abides in him [God] ought to
walk in the same way in which he walked.” (1
John 2:6) Hence, we have to die in the flesh and live our lives by trusting
God in every way:
For through the law I died to the
law so that I might live for God. I have been
crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The
life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved
me and gave himself for me. I do not set aside the
grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ
died for nothing! (Galatians
2:19-21)
For Jesus Christ crucified Himself on the cross for us, so
that we could be the righteousness of God (1
Peter 2:24) – “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering
for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.” (2
Corinthians 5:21)
Overall, faith in Christ Jesus is the FIRST primary key of
being the follower of Jesus, even though it is hard. We can see this in Matthew
16:24-25:
Whoever wants to be my disciple MUST
deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For
whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their
life for me will find it.
And the next verse says:
What good will it be for someone to
gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in
exchange for their soul? [For] We know that we are children of God, and that
the whole world is under the control of the evil one. (Matthew
16:26, 1 John 5:19)
For this reason, we ought to overcome the world as well:
Everyone who believes that Jesus is
the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever
has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we
love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep
his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has
been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome
the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who
believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1
John 5:1-5)
“If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things
that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your
minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth. For you have
died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life
appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.” – Colossians 3:1-4 ESV
