“God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While
we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8 NIV
First of all, we have to admit ourselves
that we have been sinners from the beginning. (Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12) Because we have sinned from
the beginning—God, our heavenly Father (Ephesians 4:6) had sent His only beloved
Son, Jesus Christ as an image of Himself (Colossians 1:15) into the world (John 1:14) to crucify Himself as atonement
of our sins; to destroy the evil one who has been inside of us (Colossians 2:13-15; Hebrews 2:14-15), due to His kingdom of
heaven and His steadfast love.
For God so loved
the world [Garden of Eden – Genesis 1-2] that he gave his one and only
Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For
God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the
world through him. (John 3:16-17)
This is how God
showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we
might live through him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved
us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (1 John 4:9-10)
Hence, we ought to repent for our sins that
we have done (1 John 1:9; Matthew 3:2) and for walking into the wide
road/abiding into the world, for there is the doom of destruction. Thus, the
word of God declares:
Enter by the
narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to
destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the
way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few. (Matthew 7:13-14)
Do not love this
world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not
have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for
physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our
achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this
world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave.
But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. (1 John 2:15-17)
Therefore, since we have been given eternal
life through faith in Jesus Christ (Romans 6:23; John 17:3)—we ought to be grateful (Colossians 3:17) and abide in the Holy
Spirit/Spirit of God, whom has been poured into us by our heavenly Father to advocate
us in walking with Him (John 14:15-17,26-27) until the end of the
age. This is because the word of God states:
Don’t be
misled—you cannot mock the justice of God. You will always harvest what you
plant. Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful nature will harvest
decay and death from that sinful nature. But those who live to please the
Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So let’s not get tired of
doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing
if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have the opportunity, we should do
good to everyone—especially to those in the family of faith. (Galatians 6:7-10)
Not everyone who
says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one
who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that
day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out
demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly,
‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ (Matthew 7:21-23)
