“For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the
lost.” – Luke 19:10 NIV
What is missing in our lives, even though
we believe that we have got everything under the control?
To be honest, all of us are lost since we have
been born as sinners from the beginning. (Romans 3:23;5:12) For this reason, Jesus Christ has
provided the way of the life and the truth (John 14:6) by crucifying Himself on the cross
as an atonement of our sins; to break the power of the evil one who has been within
us. (Colossians 2:13-15; Hebrews 2:14-15) This means that without
His intercession, there has been no life within us, since the word of God
proclaims,
Salvation is found
in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by
which we must be saved. Therefore he [Jesus Christ] is able to save completely those
who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. (Acts 4:12, Hebrews 7:25)
In other words, without Jesus Christ, all
of us are going the wrong way that is towards death. “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) 1 Peter 2:24-25 probably gives us the best
explanation for this:
“He himself bore
our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and
live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” For “you were
like sheep going astray,” but now you have returned to the Shepherd and
Overseer of your souls.
Therefore, we need to consider Jesus Christ
as our driving license throughout the life. Thus, if we want to experience the
life in real way, then we have to repent before God (Matthew 3:2), overcome the world (1 John 5:1-5) and do the will of God until
the end of the age. This is because the word of God declares: “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will
enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my
Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 7:21) We can do this by abiding
into the Holy Spirit/Spirit of God, whom God has poured into us. (John 14:15-17,26-27; Ezekiel 36:26-27)
Do not love this
world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not
have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for
physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our
achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this
world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave.
But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever. (1 John 2:15-17)
His divine power [The Spirit of God] has given us everything we need for
a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and
goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises,
so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped
the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness;
and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to
self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness,
mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these
qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and
unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not
have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed
from their past sins.
Therefore, my brothers and sisters, make every effort to confirm your
calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, and
you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:3-11)
