“Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good! His faithful
love endures forever. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me
strength.” – 1 Chronicles 16:34, Philippians 4:13 NLT
First of all, we have to know that God is
absolutely in control of everything, for He is the Creator (Genesis 1:1; Psalm 24:1). This is why the Lord
proclaims, “… I am the Lord, and there is
no other. I form the light and create darkness, I bring prosperity and create
disaster; I, the Lord, do all these things.” (Isaiah 45:6-7)
For in him all
things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible,
whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been
created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things
hold together. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made
that has been made. (Colossians 1:16-17, John 1:3)
Do you not know?
Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of
the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can
fathom. (Isaiah 40:28)
Therefore, we ought to understand that we are
not able to do everything without the Lord—since the word of God also proclaims,
“For I can do everything through Christ, who
gives me strength,” (Philippians 4:13) and “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes
their steps.” (Proverbs 16:9) Thus, for this reason, we
have to give thanks for everything, especially what He has done in our lives (Psalm 105:1, Colossians 3:17) and for His
steadfast love, that Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross for our sins, to
let us have eternal life through Him (John 3:16-18). Hence, let us be like
Apostle Paul, when he declares,
But he [the Lord] said
to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in
weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so
that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight
in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For
when I am weak, then I am strong.
… in all these
things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced
that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor
the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all
creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ
Jesus our Lord. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10, Romans 8:37-39)
