‘See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has
a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage
one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you may be
hardened by sin’s deceitfulness. We have come to share in Christ, if indeed we
hold our original conviction firmly to the very end.’ – Hebrews 3:12-14 NIV
If we truly believe that Jesus Christ came
into the world from heaven to bring us salvation (Acts 4:12)—we must keep that conviction and
share it with everyone around us with the Gospel of our Lord, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). The main reason for
this is that Jesus Christ is the way of the life and the truth (John 14:6), but this is also because we are
members of one another in Christ (Romans 12:4-5; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13) due to the fact
that each one of us are members of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:27). For this reason, the
word of God declares,
Consequently, you
are no longer foreigners and strangers, but fellow citizens with God’s people
and also members of his household, built on the foundation of the apostles and
prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone. In him the whole
building is joined together and rises to become a holy temple in the Lord. And
in him you too are being built together to become a dwelling in which God lives
by his Spirit. (Ephesians 2:19-22)
In other words, we should not be alone,
especially when we are walking with Jesus Christ in the truthful way. This is
because like Ephesians 2:19-22 has stated, each one of
us are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16). However, we cannot
handle our spiritual lives on our own. For instance, if one of us are
continuously falling short of the glory of God by wrong theology (2 Corinthians 4:4), then who is going to
save that sinner? In fact, all of us are sinners from the beginning because of
the world (Romans 5:12), but we are a different kind
of sinners if we are followers of Jesus Christ (1 John 5:17). This is because by the grace
and the mercy of God—we have been saved through the Spirit of God (Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:3-8). Although we are a different
kind of sinners that are able to be the righteous children of our God (2 Corinthians 5:21), there might be a sin,
crouching at our doorstep to make us to go astray from our godly lives into
death. For these reasons, we have to stay in the perfect unity, so we may be
able to get confidence and encouragement from others through words (Colossians 3:16), deeds (Matthew 5:14-16), and prayers (James 5:13-16).
I appeal to you,
brothers and sisters, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree
with one another in what you say and that there be no divisions among you, but
that you be perfectly united in mind and thought. There is neither Jew nor
Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all
one in Christ Jesus. (1 Corinthians 1:10, Galatians 3:28)
