“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,”
declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my
ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” – Isaiah 55:8-9
NIV
These verses state that God is omniscient, which means he
has unlimited knowledge that is far better than humans. Thus, He plans
everything out in the way He wants it to be, and it cannot be thwarted by
anyone. This is because the word of God declares: “In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes
their steps” (Proverbs
16:9), and “Many are the plans in a
person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” (Proverbs
19:21) This means we cannot win our knowledge and smartness against God; we
always fall short.
Oh, the depth of the riches of the
wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths
beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the
Lord? Or who has been his counselor?” “Who has ever given to God, that God
should repay them?”
For from him and through him and
for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen. (Romans
11:33-36)
Do you not know? Have you not
heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He
will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. (Isaiah
40:28)
Nonetheless, God, our heavenly Father (Ephesians
4:6) has given us His Spirit which also known as the “Spirit of God” or “Holy
Spirit,” to help us to walk with God (John
14:15-17,26) for the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew
7:21) However, we cannot walk with God while we are still in the flesh.
Thus, we have to born again, not by mother’s womb, but by the Spirit of God. We
can see this in John
3:3-7:
Jesus replied, “Very truly I
tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.”
“How can someone be born when they
are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their
mother’s womb to be born!”
Jesus answered, “Very truly I
tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and
the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You
should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’
Hence, we should be baptized, if we consider ourselves as
followers of Jesus, and to walk with God in Christ Jesus until the end of the
age. This is because the word of God pronounces:
We were buried therefore with him
by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Therefore, if
anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the
new has come. (Romans
6:4, 2 Corinthians 5:17)
Overall, if we committed ourselves to the Lord and have been
baptized, then we ought to trust Him in every way, even if terrible situation
happens. “The Lord himself goes before
you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be
afraid; do not be discouraged.” (Deuteronomy
31:8)
You have searched me, Lord, and you
know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from
afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my
ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me
in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too
wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where
can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I
make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will
hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be
dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to
you. (Psalm
139:1-12)
Trust in the Lord with all your
heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and
he will make your paths straight. (Proverbs
3:5-6)
“For I know the plans I have for
you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to
give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me,
and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with
all your heart.” (Jeremiah
29:11-13)
