Weaklings of God!

‘But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”’ – 1 Corinthians 1:27-31 NIV

Most of us have a desire to be wise so that we can live our lives according to our own standards without any mistakes. Therefore, we read news, books and magazines in what we are interested in or the whole lot of things that we may talk about in future. For instance, Korean parents are usually very strict to make their children as smart as possible, so they make them to go to schools, academies, etc.. The parents may even make their children to have no rest because they have to “study, study, study.” It is good for us to be smart in what we are interested in but we are going to make mistakes now or in future. To be honest, in the perspective of the Kingdom Life, all of us are considered as weaklings. This is because God is too powerful and smart to be compared with us, due to the fact that He knows everything (Romans 11:33-36)—the past, present and future—since the word of God states, ‘“I am the Alpha and the Omega--the beginning and the end,” says the Lord God. “I am the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come--the Almighty One.”’ (Revelation 1:8). For example, when the prophet Isaiah saw the Lord, the Almighty, he said “Woe to me! I am ruined! For I am a man of unclean lips, and I live among a people of unclean lips, and my eyes have seen the King, the Lord Almighty.” (Isaiah 6:5) Moreover, when we think deeply about this, we are lucky to be the weaklings of God because we become more depend on Him like little children (Matthew 19:14), as Jesus have said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:3)

But the Lord said, “My grace is all you need. Only when you are weak can everything be done completely by my power.” So I will gladly boast about my weaknesses. Then Christ’s power can stay in me. Yes, I am glad to have weaknesses if they are for Christ. I am glad to be insulted and have hard times. I am glad when I am persecuted and have problems, because it is when I am weak that I am really strong. (2 Corinthians 12:9-10)

Since Psalm 111:10 pronounces that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding, let us fear Him by committing our lives to Him and becoming the children of God (John 1:12-13), and be more filled with the wisdom by meditating on the word of God (Psalm 1:1-3). In addition, let us also rejoice the fact that we need God to do all things through Jesus Christ (Philippians 4:13).

The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”
At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit, said, “I praise you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because you have hidden these things from the wise and learned, and revealed them to little children. Yes, Father, for this is what you were pleased to do.
All things have been committed to me by my Father. No one knows who the Son is except the Father, and no one knows who the Father is except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.
Then he turned to his disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see. For I tell you that many prophets and kings wanted to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.” (Luke 10:17-24)

As for me, I do not really care about being smart by worldly standards except for having a creativity mind-set and being able to proceed a Bible or theological college. This is because my main goal is to be a Christian writer, due to the fact that this is the main will of God for me. Because of this, I need to abide the word of God with the Spirit-filled mind-set. “For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12) In addition to this, I need to read a lot of devotionals and hear a lot of the Christian sermons to improve my creativity mind-set, so that I am able to convert the word of God into living words that everybody can understand.
